Free ATS resume checker

Most large employers screen CVs with an applicant tracking system (ATS) before a person ever reads them. Paste your CV text below and this checker scores it with the same rule engine as our in-builder Resume Check — missing essentials, weak bullets and formatting risks, named one by one. No account, no AI, nothing stored.

What a good ATS score is made of

Applicant tracking systems extract your CV into fields — name, contact, jobs, dates, education, skills — and recruiters then search those fields. A CV fails screening quietly when the extraction fails: headings the parser does not recognise, jobs without dates, skills buried in paragraphs. The rules above check for exactly those failure modes, plus the human ones: bullets that describe duties instead of results, and summaries that run so long nobody reads them.

If you are starting fresh, the guided builder prevents most of these issues as you type — and templates like Pure ATS and Timeline ATS keep the layout parse-safe by construction. Our ATS resume guide explains the screening process in full.

Frequently asked questions

What does an ATS checker actually check?

It checks the things applicant tracking systems and recruiters trip over: missing contact details, absent or overlong summaries, roles without dates or achievement bullets, bullets without measurable results, missing skills and language levels, and overall length. Our checker is rule-based — the same engine that powers Resume Check inside the builder — so results are instant and explainable.

Is my CV text stored or sent to AI?

No. The text is parsed and scored in memory on the server and then dropped. No AI is involved in this tool, nothing is written to a database, and the only record kept is an anonymous daily counter (a one-way hash of your IP address) that enforces the free-try limit.

How many free checks do I get?

Five checks per day on a connection, resetting at midnight UTC. Inside the builder, Resume Check is unlimited and free — and it can fix many findings with one click.

A high score means I will get the job, right?

No checker can promise that. A high score means your CV is complete, readable and parseable — the basics that get you past screening. Relevance to the specific job still matters most: mirror the job ad’s real requirements in your skills and bullets, honestly.
